The station belongs to the JR Senseki Line and stands just minutes on foot from Matsushima's main attractions. The bay itself has been revered for centuries, with the renowned haiku poet Matsuo Bashō visiting in 1689 during his famous journey documented in "The Narrow Road to the Deep North." The station is accessible from Sendai Station via the JR Senseki Line, with the journey taking approximately 40 minutes on regular trains or 25 minutes on rapid services.
