I like this shrine. Its not mainstream but I read a lot of reviews that the place was nice. There was an on going wedding/celebration when we walked here. Its really solemn and peaceful here. Its just small but if you have an extra day, its a nice place to visit

Nishino Shrine enshrines three deities: Toyotama-hime, Ugayafukiaezu no mikoto, and Emperor Ōjin (venerated as Hondawake no mikoto). The shrine is particularly known for granting blessings related to safe childbirth, fertility, matchmaking, and marital harmony. Many visitors come specifically to pray at the stone statues of parent and child dogs, which are revered as symbols of safe childbirth.
Yes, admission to Nishino Shrine is completely free. Visitors can explore the grounds, worship at the shrine, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere at no cost. However, if you wish to purchase protective charms or amulets from the shrine office, which offers around 300 varieties, these are available for purchase separately.
To reach Nishino Shrine, take the No. 42 bus from either Hassamu-Minami Station or Kotoni Station on the Sapporo Subway. The bus journey takes approximately 25 minutes. Get off at the Heiwa 1-jō 3-chōme bus stop, and the shrine is just a 1-minute walk from there. Parking is available on-site for those driving, though it can become crowded during busy periods.
The shrine can be visited year-round, with each season offering a different experience. New Year's is the busiest time, with significant crowds coming for traditional first prayers of the year. For a more tranquil experience, weekdays outside of festival periods are recommended. The shrine's 140th anniversary celebrations in 2025 may also feature special events worth attending.
Nishino Shrine has been recognized by the Sapporo Tourist Association as one of the city's top five mystical power spots. Its distinctive features include traditional Shinmei-zukuri architectural style, where the worship hall connects to both the main and offering halls, and its exceptional selection of approximately 300 varieties of protective charms and talismans. The shrine's long history since 1885 and its role as a spiritual center for the local Nishino, Heiwa, and Fukui districts also make it culturally significant.
