What other travelers are saying about Takebe Yahata Onsen
This is a truly local onsen. Everything was well organized. There is a gift and souvenir shop at the entrance selling Okayama specialties. The red bean sweets I think is a bestseller. The restaurant, perfect for either before or after the onsen experience serves delicious meals. I think it closes a few after hours after noon. Close to the onsen is an “honesty garage sale” where Japanese dining ceramics and vases can each be had for only fifty yen.
It was a comfortable atmosphere. The bath was not too hot so I could soak slowly. There are open-air baths and on clear nights, you can bathe looking at the stars. After getting out of the bath I enjoyed drinking coffee milk- it made me feel refreshed. I would like to go again!
This hot spring is awesome! The family bath is a really nice, big space to relax and enjoy the bath. It was a bit of a drive from Okayama, but it was worth it. There was also about a 1 hour wait when we arrived, but it wasn't too bad. The parking lot was not where we expected it to be, since it looks like cars could park at the building, but the parking lot is actually a separate place at the intersection nearby.
Takebr Yahata Onsen is a modern hot spring place, with good quality Onsen waters and big and modern building. It is not an hotel, just hot spring olace. Location is nice next to the river and mountains in a rural village. Nice place for relaxing!
By car, the onsen is approximately 40 minutes from the Sanyo Expressway Okayama Interchange. For public transportation, take the JR Tsuyama Line to Fukuwatari Station, then walk approximately 10-15 minutes to reach the facility. Parking is available at the Yahata Onsenkyo parking lot, which can accommodate 200 vehicles and is just a 1-minute walk from the main building.
The facility offers multiple bathing options including a large public bath, an open-air bath with scenic river views, a sauna, a family bath for private use, and a free footbath at the entrance. The hot spring water is a simple alkaline type known for its therapeutic properties. All bathing areas provide views of the surrounding natural landscape along the Asahi River.
Yes, overnight accommodation is available with 2 guest rooms that have a combined capacity of 8 people. The facility functions as both a day-trip bathing destination and a small-scale accommodation. Reservations and rates for overnight stays can be confirmed through the official website or by calling 086-722-2500.
The complex includes a restaurant serving dishes made with seasonal local ingredients, a specialty shop selling regional products including Takebe yogurt, and a tourist information area with sightseeing brochures. There is also a meeting room that can accommodate approximately 40 people and a larger hall for 70 people. Payment at the shop can be made by credit card (JCB, VISA, Mastercard, American Express) or PayPay.
