Traveler reviews

The 173 meters high , 40 storey, Umeda Sky Building is a tall, twin skyscraper located in Osaka, Japan. It was designed by the architect Hiroshi Hara and is world famous for its ‘Floating Garden Observatory’ , known famously as the Kuchu Teien Observatory, on the 39th and the 40th floors, which connects the two towers through a circular bridge and glass enclosed escalators. The Kuchu Teien Observatory has a 360-degree, open air type rooftop deck and indoor spaces with a glass cafe. The transparent escalators suspended between the two towers, called ‘Sky Walk’ are very popular with the visitors. There is also a retro-style food street located in the basement called Takimi Koji. Owned by the Sekisui House, and constructed in March, 1993, the Umeda Sky Building is located on the outskirts of the Umeda Business District in Kitaku, of Osaka in Japan. It is located at a 10-minute walking distance from the Osaka Station. It is open daily from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM. A cafe called ‘Cafe SKY 40’ is located on the 40th floor of the Umeda Sky Building inside the Observatory where snacks and drinks are available. This place is one of the best spots in the city to watch the sunset. At night, the deck at the rooftop is lighted with a luminescent floor which gives a feeling of walking through the stars. On the 39th floor there is an outlet where visitors can purchase heart shaped locks of different colours with our names and date of visit. We have to simply fill up a form before purchasing. Currently the Heart-shaped Padlock is available only for those who purchase an online ticket with Heart-shaped Padlock. These locks are to be hanged at a designated place at the observatory. Osaka city’s 360 degree views are available from this building.

Umeda Sky Building is one of the most impressive places to visit in Osaka. The architecture is stunning, especially the unique floating garden observatory and the futuristic escalator leading to the top. The 360-degree panoramic view of the city is absolutely breathtaking, both during the day and at night when Osaka lights up. I also enjoyed the exhibits and artistic displays inside the building, which added an interesting cultural touch to the experience. The atmosphere was modern, clean, and well organized, making it easy to explore at a relaxed pace. If you’re visiting Osaka, this is definitely a landmark worth adding to your itinerary. Sunset is especially magical, and the nighttime skyline view is unforgettable. A perfect spot for photography, sightseeing, and experiencing the city from above. ✨🏙️🇯🇵
Worth visiting for the views. Well planned attraction with several viewing areas including indoor and outdoor which helps manage crowds and allows and enjoyable visit. We arrived just before midday and was lucky to only wait 5 minutes. When we left at 1pm there was a long queue to enter the lift to go up.
The line took roughly 30 minutes. The fee was 2000 yens for an adult. The view is quite nice, I caught the time right after sunet and also during the night. Well, the experience was nice buuuut, if u had in mind to do smt else, do that rather than waiting for this. There were a lot of people for the sunset view, soooo, yeah :) take care and see you in Japan :)) p.s. you can get to the 35th floor free of charge but you still have to wait in the line
Had i known the best time to see this at sunset i may have re-routed my trip to kyoto to come here first. i was rushing to see many things on this day, mt fuji from shinkansen, gundam statue at daiba, arashiyama bamboo grove in kyoto then here all in 1 day and i left late. I hear the best view from here is at sunset. although it was a great experience at night im only curious what the sunset view would look like considering the way the structure of this building is. its a wide open view in the center and curious how the sun hits this building. book online as these times technically get booked fast same as with tokyo skytree. price was reasonable and at the time that i went i didnt wait long to go in. i met some nice guys out there doing photography out side the phot booth inside who took the 2nd to last photo here. view is stunning of the building and the floating escalator is no joke. due to the led bars on the outside it was tough to get a good view going up but ur surrounded by glass except for what you are stepping on. the view is breathtaking here as well as the top. definitely worth a visit you dont want to miss it here. staff was all helpful guiding you along, buying a ticket going once at the entrance.
