What other travelers are saying about Uradome Coast Island Cruise Pleasure Boat
I missed this last year because of the weather but I visited again in June. I had a good time. The water was a bit choppy but it was nice to get out and sail around the coast line. A nice view of the sand dunes in the distance.
Amazing cruise that gives you up close and personal views to the rocks. Wear a rain jacket as you can get wet on some waves (I suspect to was on purpose from the staff for a bit do fun?!) Well worth it.
The Uradome Coast boat tour was a pleasant experience, though I arrived just in time to miss one departure and had to wait for the 3:30 PM boat. The tour offers three options: a standard boat ride from March to November for 1,800 yen, an adventure boat starting in late April for 2,500 yen, and a glass-bottom boat available from late May.
I took the standard boat, which lasted about 40 minutes. The captain provided continuous commentary, but it was only in Japanese—having multilingual audio guides would make the explanations more accessible. The staff were polite and happy to help take photos for tourists. If you’re visiting Tottori and haven’t tried it, the boat tour is definitely worth a go.
Beautiful natural landscapes but a pity that small boat rides were not available that day due to huge waves. Quite inaccessible with limited buses ppl plying the route if you do not have personal transport.
Unfortunately due to weather reason, no cruise was available when we arrived. But the staff was very nice and kind to drive us to a few sightseeing spots nearby for 30min before the next bus comes. Hope next year we can come and take the cruise.
Reservations are not required for the regular pleasure boat tours. You can visit the pier directly, though it's recommended to check the operation status on the day of the tour via their website before traveling. However, note that the Uradome is a small boat for 12 people and may be canceled if there is wind or swell.
The cruise costs 1500 yen per adult and lasts approximately about an hour, providing a leisurely tour of the beautiful coast. The boat offers stunning views of the intricate coastline formations and the famous "Iwami Blue" waters with their exceptional clarity.
The cruise ship is covered so a little rain isn't much of an issue. However, particularly foul weather will cancel departures. The boat may be canceled if there is wind or swell, as safety is the top priority. A clear sunny day is best to experience everything Uradome Coast Island Cruise has to offer.
The cruise welcomes children, and like all boat tours, safety equipment including life jackets are provided. The boats are designed for sightseeing and operate in relatively protected coastal waters. The experienced captains provide commentary throughout the journey while skillfully navigating through the rock formations. Parents should be aware that ocean swells can make the experience physically demanding.
The 40-minute journey takes you through narrow passages between small islands and sea stacks that larger vessels cannot access. You'll experience dozens of tunnels, caves, and unusual rock formations, with the boat able to enter shallow coves other sightseeing vessels cannot reach. The cruise offers an impressive 25 m depth of water clarity, beautiful beaches with white sand and green pines, and a view of the intricate Rias coastline. Passengers often enjoy feeding seagulls that follow the boats, and the unique geological formations showcase millions of years of natural sculpting by the Sea of Japan.
