AER Observation Terrace is a free public observation deck on the 31st floor of the AER Building in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. The name "AER" combines "air" and the Japanese "eru" (to get), symbolizing aspiration. Standing approximately 145 meters tall with 31 floors, the building serves mixed commercial and office purposes with the top floor as public observation space. Its location next to JR Sendai Station makes it a prominent city landmark and convenient viewpoint.

The terrace provides accessible panoramic views of Sendai, the Tohoku region's largest city, without admission charges. The 360-degree observation deck offers perspectives of urban landscape, surrounding mountains, and on clear days, the Pacific Ocean approximately 15 kilometers east. The terrace provides visual context for Sendai's geography in a basin surrounded by mountains. Visitors take elevators to the 31st floor where the indoor observation terrace has floor-to-ceiling windows wrapping the building's perimeter. Views include Sendai's downtown districts, the Hirose River, residential and commercial zones, and mountain ranges including the Zao Mountains west on clear days. Information panels identify landmarks and geographic features. Evening visits provide city lights and sunset views, while daytime offers clearer geographic views. The indoor environment allows access regardless of weather, though visibility depends on atmospheric conditions.

AER Observation Terrace is in the AER Building directly adjacent to JR Sendai Station, accessible via the station's west exit within 2 to 3 minutes through pedestrian walkways. Sendai Station is the major Tohoku transportation hub, accessible from Tokyo via the Tohoku Shinkansen in approximately 90 minutes.
