I’ve wanted to check out Sanosaka for a few years, and finally made it there on a beautiful bluebird day. After hearing so much about it, I can see why people visit—mainly for the stunning pond view that gives the resort its unique charm.
Sanosaka is definitely a resort for beginners or those who just want a relaxed snowboard or ski day. The slopes are wide, uncrowded, and perfect for learning. They also offer ski and snowboard lessons; my friend took one, but the instructor seemed a bit unmotivated. That said, it probably depends on which instructor you get.
If you’re an intermediate or advanced rider looking for more challenging terrain, this might not be the place for you since there aren’t many steep runs. I’d recommend coming here on a clear, sunny day to enjoy the scenery—less ideal on a gloomy or powder day. Overall, Sanosaka is best for a calm, scenic day on the mountain rather than an adrenaline-filled session.
