What are the three arts covered?

Sado, the tea ceremony; kado, flower arrangement; and shodo, calligraphy. Each is taught by a certified instructor, and together they express the aesthetic Japan calls furyu, refined elegance.

Is the house really private for our group?

Yes, private hire of the heritage home is included, so your group has the tatami rooms and the garden view to yourselves for the whole session.

Is the experience only for women?

It is designed with women who love traditional culture especially in mind, and the kimono wardrobe reflects that, but everyone from age six is welcome.

What optional extras exist?

Paid options include a calligraphic inscription on a hanging scroll, hair styling with a kanzashi hairpin, a full women's kimono set for outdoor photography, and video filming. Ask when booking.
