Tokyo – On January 22, 2025, teamLab Planets Tokyo, an immersive digital art museum in Toyosu, Tokyo, will officially open its newly expanded area. The expansion increases the museum’s space by 1.5 times, offering visitors even more interactive and educational experiences.

This exciting addition includes over 20 new installations designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and engagement through digital technology and physical interaction.

A Larger, More Engaging teamLab Planets

A person stands on a reflective surface in a vibrant, digitally artistic forest scene with a glowing blue waterfall. Surrounding them are digital images of a rhino and a tiger amidst illuminated trees and foliage.
Catching and Collecting Extinct Forest

The expansion of teamLab Planets brings three major new areas: Catching and Collecting Extinct Forest, Athletics Forest, and Future Park. Each area introduces unique and interactive exhibits, making the experience even more dynamic.

Catching and Collecting Extinct Forest

This new exhibit is designed to be both educational and fun. Visitors can explore a digitally recreated forest filled with animals that have become extinct.

Through an interactive app, guests can “catch” these digital creatures, study them up close, and learn about their histories. This hands-on approach makes the experience exciting while raising awareness about biodiversity and conservation.

Athletics Forest

This space is an active, multi-dimensional playground that blends movement and creativity. Visitors can jump, climb, and run through an environment filled with digital projections that respond to their actions.

This area encourages exploration, making it perfect for both children and adults who want to engage in a unique, interactive workout.

Future Park

A space designed for co-creation, Future Park allows visitors to collaborate on digital art projects. One of its highlights is the ability to draw objects that come to life on massive digital screens. This highly interactive area lets people see their own artwork transform into animated creatures or objects that interact with the environment.

New Relaxing and Creative Spaces

Exterior of TeamLab Planets

Along with the interactive exhibits, teamLab Planets is introducing several new areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the fusion of nature and technology.

  • Orchid Glass House – A tranquil space where visitors can enjoy tea and drinks while surrounded by regrown orchids. These flowers originally came from the famous Floating Flower Garden exhibit and have been nurtured back to life.

  • Living Art Store – A new concept store where visitors can take home the regrown orchids as a unique souvenir, allowing them to bring a piece of the museum’s nature-inspired art home.

  • Sketch Factory – A fun and creative space where visitors’ drawings are transformed into original products they can take home. This allows guests to see their creativity become part of a tangible keepsake.

Outdoor Area Revamp with Vegan Ramen UZU Tokyo

The outdoor area of teamLab Planets is also undergoing a transformation. One of the highlights is the Black Emptiness Table, an artistic and reflective space where visitors can enjoy delicious Vegan Ramen from UZU Tokyo.

This redesigned area aims to create a calming atmosphere, blending food and art in a unique way.

A Must-Visit Destination for Art and Technology Lovers

A dimly lit room features ethereal blue lighting with delicate hanging strings or lights creating a starry effect. Silhouettes of two people are visible, adding to the mystical atmosphere. The scene has a futuristic, dreamlike quality.
teamLab Planets

Since its opening, teamLab Planets has gained worldwide recognition for its breathtaking digital installations that allow visitors to become part of the artwork. The new expansion enhances this experience by offering more hands-on activities, educational exhibits, and relaxing spaces that merge nature, technology, and creativity.

For those planning to visit Tokyo, teamLab Planets is a must-see attraction, whether you are an art lover, technology enthusiast, or simply looking for a unique and unforgettable experience. The expansion makes the museum even more appealing to both first-time visitors and those who have been before.
