How to Spend a Day Exploring Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Tower
Roppongi Hills and Tokyo Tower are two popular places in Tokyo. They’re close to each other and offer beautiful city views, museums, modern buildings, parks, and great food. This guide gives you a full-day plan that’s easy to follow and fun for all travelers, including solo visitors, couples, families, and vegan/vegetarian eaters.

Take a Train to Roppongi Station
Start your day by getting to Roppongi Station in central Tokyo.
How to Get There:
From Shibuya: Take the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line (about 10 minutes)
From Shinjuku: Take the Toei Oedo Line (about 15 minutes)
From Tokyo Station: Take the Marunouchi Line, then transfer to the Oedo Line
Which Exit to Use:
Exit 1C: Walks directly into Roppongi Hills
Exit 3: Takes you to Tokyo Midtown (optional side visit)
Roppongi Hills is a large, modern complex filled with shops, restaurants, a museum, a garden, and an observation deck.
What You Can Explore:
✔ Mori Garden – A small peaceful Japanese garden near the museum.
✔ TV Asahi Headquarters – You can look inside the open lobby.
✔ Roppongi Hills Shopping Area – Explore fashion stores, bookstores, and gift shops.
✔ Tsutaya Books – A beautiful store with Japanese stationery and international magazines.
Visit the Mori Art Museum and Tokyo City View
Head up Mori Tower (just beside the spider statue) for art and amazing views.
Opening Hours: Usually 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
Ticket Cost: Around ¥2,000 for both the museum and observation deck
What to Do:
✔ See modern art from Japan and around the world.
✔ Go up to the Tokyo City View observation deck (inside viewing).
✔ If the weather is nice, pay extra to visit the Sky Deck on the rooftop!
Visit The National Art Center, Tokyo
A 10-minute walk from Roppongi Hills
Entrance Fee: Building is free, exhibitions vary (usually ¥500–¥1,500)
What to Do:
✔ Visit temporary art shows from Japanese and international artists.
✔ Walk through the large glass lobby — great for photos.
✔ Relax at the café inside or shop for art-themed goods.
Eat Lunch in Roppongi

Tokyo Tower is one of Tokyo’s most famous symbols. It’s 333 meters tall and has a great view of the city from the top.
Main Deck (150m): About ¥1,200
Top Deck Tour (250m): Around ¥3,000 (book online in advance)
What to Do:
Enjoy the city view—especially at sunset!
Try the glass floor section if you're feeling brave
Take photos with the glowing red tower
Visit the souvenir shop or aquarium in the base building
Visit Zojoji Temple behind the tower if you have time

You can stay near Tokyo Tower or go back to Roppongi for dinner.
