류즈 폭포는 닛코 국립공원의 자연 경이입니다. “류즈(Ryuzu)”라는 이름은 “용의 머리”를 의미하며, 물이 210미터 길이의 용암 지대를 따라 흐르면서 두 갈래로 갈라져 마치 용의 머리처럼 보이는 데에서 유래했습니다. 이러한 독특한 지형은 난타이산의 고대 화산 활동으로 인해 형성되어 수세기 동안 이 지역의 풍경을 만들어 왔습니다.

류즈는 유카와강을 따라 형성된 첫 번째 폭포 중 하나로, 유카와강은 유노코호에서 발원합니다. 폭포에서 흘러나온 물은 결국 주젠지호로 이어져 자연 명소들 간의 연결을 형성합니다. 류즈는 인근의 게곤 폭포에 비해 규모는 작지만, 높은 접근성과 가까운 거리에서 폭포를 감상할 수 있다는 매력이 있습니다.

닛코의 유명한 폭포로 높이는 크진 않지만 멋진 단풍과 두 갈래로 나뉘어 떨어지는 폭포가 장관이다. 다른 관광지와 비교하면 거리가 있기 때문에 기대를 하고 가면 실망할지도 모르겠다. 처음에는 장소가 어디있나 싶었지만 의외로 매점 뒤에 있는 통로로 들어가면 나온다.
