Aeon Mall Shinkomatsu

Aeon Mall Shinkomatsu opened in March 2017 as the first large-scale shopping mall in the Hokuriku region, serving the city of Komatsu in Ishikawa Prefecture. Located at 315 Seiroku-machi, Komatsu, the mall represents a significant retail development that combines modern shopping facilities with regional cultural elements. The mall covers a site area of 128,000 square meters with a total floor space of 83,000 square meters, making it one of the major commercial destinations in the region.

The mall's cultural significance lies in its integration of Ishikawa Prefecture's traditional crafts. The building's exterior and interior feature Kutani-ware pottery, known as Kutani-yaki, a traditional craft from Ishikawa. A notable feature is the Five Colored Kutani Pillar with 108 pieces of traditional Kutani pottery attached to it, creating a gallery-like atmosphere that blends shopping with cultural appreciation. This design choice reflects the mall's role as both a commercial center and a showcase for local artisanship.

Visitors can explore over 170 specialty stores including international brands like ZARA, local boutiques, supermarkets, drugstores, and a SAC'S BAR Plus that specializes in made-in-Japan products. The mall houses two distinct dining areas: the Komatsu Food Corridor featuring a checkered-patterned ceiling with Japanese restaurants offering yakiniku, ramen, tonkatsu, and nabe, and Food Forest, a food court with tatami-mat seating and the largest LED wall of any shopping mall in Japan. Mori Mori Sushi, one of Hokuriku's famous conveyor belt sushi chains, operates within the complex. The supermarket section offers regional specialties including Kaga pears, horsehair crabs, and sweet shrimp, with duty-free services available for international visitors.

The mall is located approximately 20 minutes by car from Komatsu Airport, providing convenient access for travelers heading to Kanazawa, Kaga Onsen, or other Hokuriku destinations. A complimentary shuttle bus runs from JR Komatsu Station to the mall, taking just eight minutes. The station has been connected to the Hokuriku Shinkansen network since March, improving accessibility from major Japanese cities. Alternatively, visitors can take the Hokutetsu-Kaga Bus to Oki Bus Stop and walk a few minutes to reach the mall. The facility provides 3,400 parking spaces for those traveling by car. Entry to the mall is free, though individual shops and restaurants operate independently with their own pricing.
