Drum rock (Taiko-iwa)

Drum Rock, known locally as Taiko-iwa, is one of Yakushima Island’s most intriguing natural features. This massive granite boulder, perched atop a mountain, gets its name from its drum-like shape and the deep, resonant sounds it produces.
