A cute history folk museum. There are lots of displays showing traditional Hakata life. There are also explanations and videos on the main festivals that occur annually in the city. There was also some traditional pottery activity going on, which would be a fun thing to learn. I recommend visiting. It's a great way to learn some of the history and culture of the local area. Worth checking out if you're staying in Fukuoka.
Pretty cool museum! Artifacts well preserved and displayed. An artisan was present working that was a bonus. This is a must if you visited the Kushida shrine which is right across the street.
We went into this place looking for a reprieve from the late summer sun. Looks like a quint old timey house from the outside. Houses a surprisingly large and delightful collection of dioramas of Hakata history. The staff were very welcoming and informative. Highly recommended, especially for taking a break from the sweaty summer temple crawls.
Beautiful museum. Well designed captions for the displays. Museum staff are amazing and very knowledgeable. Has a nice peaceful area for breaks and I brought my own snack and tea to eat.
Such a great little museum. Friendly staff and fun crafts. We managed to get there right when the Hakata Doll painting started. I would have chosen another activity, but I'm glad we did it. My daughter and wife loved the painting and they now have a place of honor at home. The rest of the museum is relatively small, but lots of interesting content that kept my daughter entertained for quite a while.
Will try another activity the next time we return!
