Itsukushima, commonly known as Miyajima, is a sanctuary off the coast of Hiroshima that offers one of Japan's most celebrated scenic views.
Renowned for its blend of sacred Shinto architecture, lush natural trails, and friendly roaming deer, the island is widely considered a must-visit destination for travelers in Western Japan, there are food stalls, souvenirs shops and memorable mementos available for purchase nearby.
Beautiful and peaceful place. Loved seeing the friendly deer and the stunning floating torii gate at Itsukushima Shrine. Such a memorable experience.🦌⛩️
Must visit location for your Japan trip. Pick a time when there's low tide to walk up to the Torii and click fantastic pictures. Sakura was in full bloom and wild deers gave it a fairytale experience.
Miyajima is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited in Japan. The island has a peaceful atmosphere with stunning natural scenery, friendly deer roaming freely, and breathtaking views everywhere you look. Walking through the charming streets filled with local shops and delicious food made the experience even more enjoyable.
The famous floating torii gate and the shrine are truly spectacular, especially during high tide. The island is very clean, well-maintained, and easy to explore on foot. Every corner offers beautiful photo opportunities, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and photographers.
If you have enough time, I also recommend taking the ropeway or hiking up Mount Misen for incredible panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea. Whether you're visiting for a day trip or staying longer, Miyajima is a place that leaves you with unforgettable memories. I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Japan.
Must visit this place. We took a ferry from Hiroshima. Most convenient for us as we were at the Atomic bomb dome(ABD) center near the peace park. The ferry pier is right next to ABD and it took us 45 mins to get to Miyajima. Lot of shrines and food stalls near by. Enjoy the evening with great views of Torri gate and Mt. Misen
