Spectacular Pagoda and gate.
Peaceful atmosphere.
Short walk distance from Meitetsu line train station.
Some good places to eat around is making it a nice place to visit and spend time
The unique atmosphere here is indescribable! The temple grounds are spacious, with many halls split into two sections, the center being spacious and the main hall at the end! 👀 The building is imposing and stately! There was plenty to see, including the South Gate, East Gate, and Three-Story Pagoda, all designated Important Cultural Properties. 🎵 I went on a weekday, so there weren't many people and I was able to find a parking spot, but on weekends, the parking lot isn't as big, so it seems like it would be difficult to find a spot! 😄 If you complete the visit and get a stamp at 12 temples within the temple grounds and at Daitoku-in Temple to the east, you can receive a charm at the main hall. ✨ It's been 25 years since I last visited, and the surrounding atmosphere and Jimokuji Kannon haven't changed at all; only I have. 😄
I heard that the preservation and repair work on the Great South Gate of Kannon Temple would be open to the public, and after making a reservation in advance, I was able to take a look.
I originally went to Jimokuji Elementary School, just west of the temple, and I was feeling nostalgic for the days when I used to walk through the temple grounds on my way to school, so I decided to go, thinking that this kind of opportunity doesn't come around very often.
At the moment, almost all of the shingles on the main roof have been removed, but work is continuing, with completion scheduled for the end of next year.
All this happened on a calm autumn day at Kannon Temple.
