Jonanjima Seaside Park, Ota

Jonanjima Seaside Park is a waterfront recreational facility located on an artificial island in Ota Ward, Tokyo, offering visitors a beach-like atmosphere just 30 minutes from central Tokyo. The island of Jonanjima was constructed as an artificial island during the 1940s and later incorporated into Ota Ward in 1979. The park was officially developed for public enjoyment and opened to residents in 1991. Spanning approximately 200,000 square meters, with 75,000 square meters designated as water area, it stands as Tokyo's only park featuring both an artificial beach for tidal activities and an auto-camping facility.

The park's defining characteristic is its exceptional proximity to Haneda Airport. Situated directly across from the airport, the park provides visitors with close-up views of aircraft taking off and landing, making it a particularly popular destination for aviation photography enthusiasts. The sight and sound of commercial jets passing overhead at low altitude creates a unique sensory experience rarely available in urban parks.

The main attraction is Tsubasa Beach, Tokyo Bay's third-largest artificial sandy beach, where visitors can walk along the shoreline and observe maritime traffic entering Tokyo Port. Swimming is prohibited, but the beach serves as a gathering space for families and photographers. The park features comprehensive facilities including 20 regular camping sites that can accommodate approximately 15 people each, along with 22 auto-camping lots exclusively for families, 10 of which include AC power sources. The Tsubasa Dog Run offers a free-use area of 2,500 square meters plus a 300 square meter section designated for small dogs. Additional amenities include barbecue facilities, cooking buildings, a skateboard plaza, and children's play areas.

Park admission is free, though camping and certain facilities require advance reservations. Parking is available at a rate of ¥100 per 30 minutes, Visitors can reach the park by taking the Keikyu bus line Mori32 (Jonanjima round route) from either JR Omori Station's east exit or Tokyo Monorail's Ryutsu Center station, alighting at the Jonanjima 4-chome bus stop. The park entrance is a 3-minute walk from the bus stop. The island itself is primarily industrial, focused on logistics operations, and is accessible only via this single bus route.
