Kamiwarisaki Natural Park, Ishinomaki

Kamiwarisaki Natural Park is a coastal park on the Oshika Peninsula in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture. The park encompasses a rugged headland jutting into the Pacific Ocean with sea cliffs, rock formations, and Sanriku Coast scenery. The park preserves coastal environment and provides public access. "Kamiwarisaki" (God-Split Cape) references rock formations appearing split by natural forces. The park represents the wild Sanriku coastline character. The region was impacted by the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, with the park experiencing damage but undergoing recovery.

The park features geological formations, coastal ecosystems, and Pacific Ocean views. Sea cliffs rise dramatically with wave erosion creating caves, arches, and rock stacks. Public transportation is extremely limited, making rental cars or tours most practical. From Sendai, travel to Ishinomaki (approximately 60 to 90 minutes) then continue to Oshika Peninsula. Remote peninsula location requires careful route planning with navigation. Admission is free.
