What other travelers are saying about Kobe Municipal Arboretum
Absolutely lovely botanical park and garden with long, winding paths through a diverse array of trees and greenery. Each visit reveals new seasonal wonders, from vibrant spring blooms (azaleas and cherry blossoms are breathtaking!) to fiery autumn foliage. A serene escape within Kobe, ideal for leisurely strolls, picnics, and nature photography. Extensive grounds offer various trails and hidden nooks for exploration. Don't miss the charming ponds, bridges, and occasional wildlife sightings. The arboretum is well-maintained with helpful signage and amenities (restrooms, vending machines). A must-visit for nature enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility amidst the city buzz.
Love this place, especially in Autumn. Gorgeous colours. Wide open spaces and lots of nature to enjoy. Come and spend the day here and see a different side of Kobe.
Indispensable place to enjoy Natural atmosphere is here deep into the Rokko Mountain Range, situating 10 km to the East from Kita-Suzuran-Dai St. As a matter for regret, not so convenient place for pedestriant as it is, some effort might be required to visit the Natural place.
You may kill at least half a day here, as a hiker, as a family and as a photographer including a bird watcher.
Restaulant supplies meals, drink machinery is prepared. Wheelchair users available.
Anyway, a best care might be taken while winding road driving not to cut in center line for safety.
I visited on 22/11/2023. There is the free shuttle bus at Kitasuzurandai station. The bus was punctual, and it wasn't crowded. The natural surroundings and scenery were beautiful, offering a relaxing experience as I walked around and enjoyed the views.
Be ready to walk a lot - this place is huge. It’s also quite out of the way, as it takes a bus ride to get here if you don’t have a car. That being said, this place has great walking trails among all kinds of plants, trees, and flowers. There are also picnic tables, so it’s easy to bring a lunch and spend a full day here! The arboretum is especially popular in Spring during cherry blossoms season, and Autumn when the leaves change. The scene around the pond is especially beautiful!
Main attractions include the extensive collection of Japanese maples, the Rhododendron Garden, and the Hydrangea Garden, as well as various seasonal flower displays.
The best times to visit are during the spring for cherry blossoms and rhododendrons and in the autumn for the colorful foliage of Japanese maples.
Yes, the arboretum offers guided tours led by knowledgeable staff, providing insights into the various plant species and their ecological significance.
Pets are not allowed in the arboretum to protect the plant life and ensure a clean environment for all visitors.
