What other travelers are saying about Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens & Ropeway
What a beautiful place. Its clean and very well operated.
Catch the cable car up to the top and see the best view you will get of Kobe.
Once your at the top, there are some rose gardens.
The journey back down the mountain by foot takes you through beautiful tranquil gardens of every sort.
This is a lovely way to escape the busy city and enjoy the gardens, the birds, the many bees and butterflies.
You can stop along the way and rest in hammocks, look at a waterfall, enjoy an ice cream and just take in all the beautiful sounds and fragrances.
This is a real gift to this city.
The path down the mountain can be steep in some places. This is not suitable for people in wheelchairs or have difficulty walking down slopes.
Wow! The view with the cable car on a clear day was absolutely incredible. The greenery was well taken care of and it’s clear how much the staff takes care of their garden. A must see for all visitors truly! Highly suggest camping out on one the hammocks to fully immerse yourself and a quick nap! Even the cafe was so much fun.
It’s one of the best ways to see the whole of Kobe and the port area. I still can’t believe the mountains beside Kobe are so lush—you can even see wildlife like birds and insects. Going up the gondola was such a treat. The ropeway feels sturdy, but if you’re afraid of heights, it can make you feel a bit squirmish at first. Still, once you get to the top, all your fears go away. The view is amazing, and the place has a charming European feel. There’s an inn, a restaurant, and other activities you can do. The flower garden is definitely one of the highlights, and of course, there’s a herb garden too. They even sell products made from their own herbs.
An absolutely wonderful way to spend a day.
I highly recommend taking the cable car (ONE WAY ONLY) UP to the TOP (Note: there’s a stop half-way up) and taking your time (2+ hrs) to meander down (steps or slope) through the wonderful gardens and structures (and a splendid waterfall) to the base. Oh - and there are many trees and shrubs (+ vegetable gardens, worthy of note).
A very memorable day.
PS. There’s a really nice ‘not to be missed’ (fancy wancy) restaurant at the top of the hill + some rather interesting stores that even have lots of fragrant products made from a number of the herbs and spices that they grow. (I even bought a ‘neck pillow’ with a lemongrass aroma and a bottle of lemongrass fragrance to ‘freshen it up’ after multiple uses).
A must-visit for anyone who visits Kobe. Perfect for a stroll to take in the scenery and explore the garden. The area is quite large, and there is a lot of walking involved, so keep that in mind. Strongly recommend checking the weather forecast beforehand, as while there are umbrellas provided in the garden for free, it will be a much better experience to enjoy your scenic stroll rain-free. The stamp rally is neat and will bring you to iconic locations throughout the garden, so I recommended it (there are commemorative rewards for it as well).
