What other travelers are saying about Kurashiki Denim Street
What a wonderful collection of denim brands carefully curated into a 'street' full of beautifully Japan-made denim merchandise. For all you denim lovers out there, this is a must visit place along the historic river area. For those who aren't so into denim, do try the blue coloured buns and ice cream, it's a surreal experience you'll never forget.
A commercial street with mostly overpriced jeans (yes, the quality may be different, but still). Or perhaps I have an expensive taste, but what I liked was not affordable for me.
Kurashiki Denim Street is a unique shopping area in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarters.
You will see a few stores here selling a specific theme of products - Yup! That's right, the stores here sell denim-themed things from the usual denims to food with the distinct denim color.
It's a must-visit if you want to try out the unique denim man and denim soft cream. Of course don't forget to buy a pair of jeans when you visit.
Kurashiki is known for denim but this small street has a lot of photo spots and also sells the denim man (meat bun) and also the denim ice cream (ramune flavor) and hot dog. You can buy nice denim or just take photos

Japanese denim jeans typically range from 10,000 to 25,000 JPY ($70-$170 USD) per pair. The higher prices reflect the premium quality, traditional craftsmanship, and use of authentic indigo dyeing techniques. Some vintage items can be priced at a few million yen, though these are rare collector pieces. The carefully manufactured jeans are designed to be durable and develop character over time with wear.
Kurashiki Denim Street offers distinctive denim-colored food and beverages, including denim-colored steamed buns, denim ice cream, denim peach squash, and denim lemon chuhai. These novelty items are dyed with natural indigo coloring to create the signature blue appearance. While the unusual colors may look unconventional, visitors often try them out of curiosity and enjoy the unique experience.
Kurashiki Denim Street features many renowned Japanese denim brands including KOJIMA GENES, JAPAN BLUE JEANS, Betty Smith, and MOMOTARO JEANS. The street showcases over 1,000 items from Okayama's world-famous denim manufacturers, making it a comprehensive destination for authentic Japanese denim products. Professional "Jeans Sommeliers" are available to provide expert guidance on selections.
Yes, these are two separate denim destinations in the Kurashiki area. Kurashiki Denim Street is located within the historic Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter in central Kurashiki and opened in 2014. Kojima Jeans Street is located in the Kojima district of Kurashiki City, which is the actual birthplace of Japanese denim production. Kojima Jeans Street features over 40 jeans shops, cafes, and galleries spread along the former Ajino Shopping Street. Both offer authentic Japanese denim experiences but in different locations.
