I stopped by on January 5th, lured by a rainbow.
This Tenmangu shrine is located on the seafront in Kusugawa village,
and the people of Kusu call it "Tenjin-sama."
The dragon at the water basin here is so cute!
The shrine building, which was damaged in a typhoon two years ago, had been restored to its former glory. It was my first time visiting over the New Year period, so I was able to leisurely stroll through the empty, rustic grounds.
The amulets are also highly recommended, as they have a simple touch that is typical of Yakushima.
There is no parking lot, so it might be best to park your car at the fishing port and pray there.

The shrine's origins lie in a villager who found a sacred object in the sea and brought it to the magistrate's office, where it was identified as the sacred object of Tenmangu Shrine and enshrined there.
Although it's a small shrine, it's well-maintained, likely due to the care of the local residents.
The view from the sea is magnificent.
The shimenawa (sacred rope) wrapped around the torii gate is unique.
Located within a village, the roads are narrow and there's no parking, so please be careful when visiting.

They have souvenirs in the style of votive tablets. Payment is made by putting money into an offering box. Perfect for amulets and souvenirs! Great atmosphere!

This shrine is located right by the sea. On a clear day, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the blue sky and sea. Although it's an unmanned shrine, it seems to be maintained by local residents and was very well cared for.
