Miho Beach

4.1 (199)BeachNatural FeatureEstablishment

Miho Beach is a renowned coastal area celebrated for its scenic beauty and cultural significance. The beach, stretching along the eastern shore of Suruga Bay, offers one of the most iconic views of Mount Fuji, especially on clear days when the mountain’s majestic silhouette reflects in the bay's waters. The beach is part of the Miho no Matsubara, a site recognized as a component of the Fujisan UNESCO World Heritage, highlighting its importance in Japanese culture and history.

The black sand of Miho Beach, a result of ancient volcanic activity, creates a striking visual contrast with the green pine trees that line the shore and the blue ocean beyond. These pine trees are part of the legendary Miho no Matsubara, a forest of over 30,000 pines that has been cherished in Japanese art and poetry for centuries. Among these trees is the famous Hagoromo no Matsu, tied to the legend of a celestial maiden and her feathered robe. This tale has inspired numerous works in Noh theater and traditional Japanese literature.

Nice place to observe the magnificent view of Mighty Mt. Fuji san. Also if you have the craziness of fishing you might be like this place.

Definitely not worth a visit in 2025. Everything is overgrown and abandoned. There is nothing to see or do here unless you want to fish on the beach. If visiting Shimizu on a cruise do not waste your time or money planning to visit this beach or the area surrounding it.
