What other travelers are saying about Minoh Waterfall
This is a very scenic spot with clean air. I really love the atmosphere here. I hope visitors will be kind and not take or leave anything behind - Let's keep this place pristine, so that we can enjoy a good time here. There's also an insect museum with a clock that sings every hour - interesting for both kids and adults. There are restrooms and shops along the way. No entrance fees to the waterfall.
The walk up to Minoh waterfall in Minoh Park is scenic and relatively easy with a slight incline. Time from the station (look for the little stone mascot for the start of the trail!) to the waterfall takes about 45 minutes. We went on a Friday morning (7 March) and there were only a few other people on the trail. We were also really lucky that it started snowing really lightly when we were there and on the way back. Also don't forget to try their speciality of momiji tempura (fried maple leaves) - little sweet and very crunchy.
There was also a bit of construction happening as they were installing guard rails on the path.
This review is SPECIFICALLY for the falls, and not the park (which I did not fully explore). It was somewhat crowded with lots of people sitting at the front, so you can’t really get a nice view. Perhaps if you come in the morning, it will be a lot quieter, since I was there around 4pm. It was a nice walk to the falls, though. The waterfall itself was a little underwhelming, but maybe that’s just because I’m not as much of a waterfall guy as other people.
Absolutely stunning waterfall and surroundings. Completely free activity. About an hour walk to get to the waterfall, it isn’t really sign posted though and there was a point where you could go left up some stairs or right on pavement and we had no clue which way. Just follow the concrete the whole way and you’ll make it there no problem. Also there is a little ice cream shop at the top by the waterfall which had such a lovely lady working and delicious ice cream
The waterfall itself is beautiful but all the views and interesting little asides on the way up is a highlight in itself. The lush canopies are high and almost cover up the sky most of the way up but still let in the sun in the most mesmerising way. I can only dream what this place would look like in spring or fall 😔
