What other travelers are saying about Miyajima History and Folklore Museum
Loved this place! The gardens were stunning and the local history was so interesting & well displayed. They advised it takes 30m to 1hr to see all of it, but we ended up spending 1hr 20, honestly could've gone longer but we got too hungry!

This museum is a jewel in the island a Must to visit.
It looks like a simple beautiful classic japanese house from the outside, on the inside it begins like a modest place showing some history and instruments used on the island.
Then it has a second floor with more history like a normal museum but what bring this place on top of most places is that it provides you the chance to go inside the house and seat in the living room, try to do some Japanese Origami, heard the little fountain on the garden of the house and feel what could have been living in a place like that on the old days, absolutely gorgeous.
I highly recommend to visit this place.
This remarkably detailed museum of the island’s history and shrine is housed in a beautiful old building and holds many wonderful artefacts. A must see when visiting Miyajima - be advised it’s cash only for entry tickets
