Mizunosato Okutsu Lake is a man-made reservoir located in Kagamino Town, in the northern region of Okayama Prefecture, Japan. The lake was created in 1974 with the completion of the Okutsu Dam on the Yoshii River, primarily for flood control, irrigation, and water supply purposes. The dam stands at a height of 74 meters and the reservoir extends approximately 14 kilometers upstream, creating one of the largest lakes in the Chugoku region.
The area surrounding Okutsu Lake has developed into a recreational destination known for its natural beauty, particularly during the autumn season when the mountainous landscape transforms with vibrant fall foliage. There is no admission fee to access the lake and its surrounding public areas, though specific facilities such as campsites or boat rentals charge separate fees.
