What other travelers are saying about Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
I visited Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and found it absolutely worth seeing. The highlight for me was the massive manta rays gracefully gliding through the water—truly spectacular and mesmerizing. As for the whale sharks, they didn’t impress me as much because I’ve previously swum with whale sharks in Cebu, but first-time visitors would still find them impressive.
The aquarium features a wide variety of unique and unusual marine creatures, making the visit both surprising and educational. It’s a great experience for anyone interested in marine life. The only downside was the aquarium’s restaurant, where the food was mediocre and overpriced, but this didn’t significantly affect the overall experience.
Overall, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is a must-visit spot in Okinawa. Whether you’re with family, friends, or alone, it offers a wonderful opportunity to get up close with marine creatures. The manta ray display, in particular, is truly unforgettable.
Highly recommended! This aquarium is suitable for all ages, with an abundance of marine life and a well-planned visitor flow. You can see the famous whale shark here, and parking is super convenient! I recommend parking in P7; it's close to the entrance and has shade.
Of course, the aquarium itself is amazing with its collection!
There are so many interesting things, I want to explore everything properly! Of course, I wish there were fewer people, but unfortunately, that can't be fixed.
We were there on a Monday morning, but there were so many people! So many that a stroller ran over my leg several times, even though I wasn't sitting or standing in the aisle! There are a lot of places where people just sit on the floor because there is nowhere to sit. There are not enough seats. (I'm talking about the area with the aquariums). Some aquariums are so small that you have to wait in line to see what's inside... There are a lot of children too! And they will be very noisy! So if you want to enjoy the views, be prepared for someone next to you to scream.
The area with the turtles outside smelled really bad, it was hard to stand there for long.
The only really cool thing was the dolphin show! Everything was great, even though the stage looks a little tired...
Anyway, it is worth to visit!
A little overpriced for what it offers, but probably because it’s more tailored towards children. Still, if I was a child I’d be lost in the dream world. We enjoyed the free parking, and the amenities of the park around it, but I would recommend hydrating before because every vending machine we saw was sold out. The lines were short, despite the crowds being deep. I lived in Atlanta Georgia USA, and the whale shark here reminded me of how massive and majestic they truly are. The grounds around the aquarium offer so much more, and the staff is quite accommodating and kind.
I went to the Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa. There was also a free parking lot, which was convenient. It was from Saturday afternoon, but I was able to purchase the tickets smoothly. There were many visitors, so I waited in line to enter the aquarium, but I didn't wait long. I was thrilled to see the graceful swimming of a giant The whale shark and the South Sea Manta that I saw in the finale, "The Kuroshio Sea." It's worth going.
