A cafe is in a corner near the main entrance. Turn right and you'll walk into it. The coffee is good. The soft ice cream is good but limited to strawberry and vanilla or variations thereof. An open park that my child and dog absolutely adore. With a great ocean view and a perfect sunset-behind-mountains scene, it was a favorite for the family to visit on summer nights. Also a spot for fireworks during some of the festivals.
We stopped by this roadside station during a drive through Minamiboso, and it's a truly luxurious place with its breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean and spacious area where you can feel the sea breeze.
What was particularly impressive this time was the live event held in the outdoor plaza. Sitting on the grass and relaxing with pleasant music playing against a backdrop of a large banner depicting elephants was a special experience. The open atmosphere and the sight of adults and children relaxing and enjoying themselves was wonderful.
The interior is also very well-stocked, with an astonishingly wide variety of fresh local seafood. The live seafood unique to Minamiboso, such as turban shells and spiny lobsters, was especially impressive, and we enjoyed choosing souvenirs. This time, we got "horse mackerel tataki miso fry" and "whale croquettes" to go, and both had a crispy coating and thick filling. Eating them freshly fried while gazing at the sea from the car was fantastic!
With a large fishing boat on display and a vast lawn area, it's more than just a rest stop; it's a tourist hub where you can enjoy yourself all day long. The staff were cheerful and energetic, and I was able to fully enjoy the charm of Minamiboso. This is a roadside station that I would definitely want to stop by when driving, and I can confidently recommend it.
