The wisteria and azaleas are almost finished blooming. There's a slope, though not very gentle, so it's wheelchair accessible. There's a small park below where children as young as 2-3 years old can play.

Learn at the Hanaoka Seishu Memorial Museum and buy souvenirs at the roadside station before heading home.
Shiranui (Kiyomi x Dekopon) is recommended. It's soft and delicious.

First time using this place for overnight stay in a car.
It's located a little way uphill from National Route 24, so it was quiet at night.
The parking lot is spacious and easy to park in.
There's a JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) direct sales store, so you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits, and some small Wakayama souvenirs.
Toilets and vending machines are available 24 hours a day.
There's a walking course, and various flowers were in bloom.
I found it online and went there.
The azaleas were beautiful, and it was free to enter the roadside station.
I can't believe such a nice place exists! 👀‼️
Some of the flowers had already finished blooming.
I wonder if they'll still be in bloom for a little while longer?
When I arrived at 11:00, the parking lot was full.
I was able to park after waiting a short while.
💊 "Medical Saint" or "Madman"? Hanaoka Seishu
Heh heh... The Mandarake broth is finally boiled down!
A remarkable achievement in 1804 (the first year of the Bunka era): General anesthesia 40 years before America! Heh heh... A tumor in the breast of a 60-year-old woman? Give her the anesthetic... There, she's asleep... All I have to do is cut it off, easy peasy. A "Medical Saint" because it was successful? Well, that's fine.
The truth about the experiment: My wife Kae's eyesight? She was sacrificed. My mother Otsugi? She died as a test subject... But I gained the title of "Medical Saint" and the honor of being the official physician of the Kishu Tokugawa family. A small price to pay. Oh, you don't need to dwell on this episode.
The miserable state of Shunrinken (Seishu's village): Strict "private school rules," 8 a.m.? Of course. Leaking any secret techniques results in immediate excommunication. Am I on the patient's side? ...No, I'm on the side of knowledge. Heh heh.
💉 Shunrinken (Reconstruction): The clinic and residence are combined. You can see how many disciples flocked there at the time, but the atmosphere might be a little heavy...?
Exhibit of Human Experimentation: The scene where his wife, Kae, lost her sight is recreated with an elaborate doll. There are stories of children crying because it was so realistic... Pray for Otsugi's soul? You should.
The area around Kinokawa City is peaceful. But traces of my experiments are hidden everywhere.
Nearby restaurants have healthy ingredients, but rest assured they don't have the "numbing taste" of my Tsusensan.
If you want to see the literal "madness" behind the "medical saint," then go. This is the site of the breast cancer surgery that shocked the world, achieved at the expense of his wife and mother. Visit with caution!
At the roadside station "Seishu no Sato," in addition to Shunrinken, you can enjoy healthy foods made with medicinal herbs... Hehehe...
