Roadside Station Yoshiumi Iki-iki-kan stands as a prominent gateway to the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge, the world's longest suspension bridge series connecting Oshima Island to mainland Shikoku. Located in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, this facility opened in 1999 as part of the Shimanami Kaido expressway development, serving both as a rest stop and cultural center celebrating the region's maritime heritage.

The station takes its name from the historic Yoshiumi area, once controlled by the powerful Murakami Suigun (Murakami Pirates) who dominated the Seto Inland Sea trade routes during the medieval period. The "Iki-iki" in its name means "lively" or "fresh," reflecting the facility's focus on fresh local seafood and vibrant market atmosphere. The complex houses a seafood market, restaurants specializing in local catches, and observation areas offering panoramic views of the Kurushima Strait's powerful tidal currents, which reach speeds of up to 10 knots and change direction four times daily.

Visitors can experience the famous seafood barbecue where fresh catches from local waters can be selected and grilled on-site. The facility's restaurants serve regional specialties including tai-meshi (sea bream rice) and dishes featuring the prized Kurushima sea bream. The observation deck provides unobstructed views of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge's three consecutive spans totaling 4,105 meters, while the adjacent areas offer bicycle rental services for those traversing the Shimanami Kaido cycling route. The station also features exhibits about the Murakami Suigun's naval history and the engineering achievement of the bridge construction.

Access to the Yoshiumi Iki-iki-kan is straightforward via Route 317 when driving, with ample free parking available. Cyclists on the Shimanami Kaido can easily reach the station as it sits directly along the designated cycling path. From Imabari Station, buses operate to the facility, though service is limited. The station itself has free admission, though individual purchases at the market and restaurants vary by selection. The seafood barbecue typically costs between ¥1,000-3,000 per person depending on selections. Bicycle rentals, when available, run approximately ¥1,000 per day for standard bikes.
