It is a best displayed museum.You can spend your time and walk around here, especially who have children in group don’t miss this place. I recommend!!!! In the museum there is simulation where you can try controlling a balloon. My sons love it so much. Furthermore, your tickets can be exchanged for coins to play Gachapon machine with 1 ticket/coin.
Amazing experience! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming even with the language barrier. And the museum has interactive exhibits, hot air ballon flying simulator, vibrant movies and great photo spots! I would recommend this for anyone in the area.
There is an entry fee of ¥500 which you could purchase at the ticket machine before going into the museum hall. There’s a mini theater that you could watch a video montage of the yearly Saga Ballon Festival before going up to the first floor where you could learn all the history and events that led into the establishment of Saga Ballon Festival.
There’s a multilingual digital guide for each sections that requires you to scan the QR code for you to read it.
There’s also a mini hot air ballon stimulator that you can try. There’s a guide video and the staff is more than happy to help you out.
There’s a souvenir shop that you could buy souvenirs, postcard, sweets, snacks and drinks.
It’s an ideal place to visit for a day trip. You could either take the bus or walk for about 10-15 minutes from Saga Station. There’s a lot of shops and interesting places that you could discover when you walk or cycle along the streets going to Museum.

The museum operates from 10:00 to 17:00 (last admission at 16:30) during regular periods. During the Saga International Balloon Fiesta, hours extend to 7:00 to 19:00 (last admission at 16:30). The museum is closed on Mondays (or the following day if Monday falls on a national or public holiday) and during year-end and New Year holidays. Opening hours may change during special events, so visitors should check before visiting.
General admission costs ¥500, while elementary, junior high, and high school students pay ¥200. The café, gift shop on the first floor, and the SAGA monument are free to access without purchasing a museum ticket.
The museum features a large-sized theater showing full realistic videos of the Saga International Balloon Fiesta, a flight simulator that gives visitors a pilot feeling, and displays of historical goods. Interactive exhibits include a hot air balloon flight simulator, projection mapping to see your own face floating on a balloon, and a Super Hi-vision Theatre. The flight simulator uses a real basket and burner, and visitors can participate in a quiz rally with questions about hot air balloons covering five points throughout the museum.
The museum is located 1.4 kilometers from JR Saga Station. Walking from the station takes approximately 20 minutes. Visitors can also take a local bus or taxi from the station. The museum address is 2-2-27 Matsubara, Saga City.
