What other travelers are saying about Santa Monica Harajuku
I’ve been a fan of Santa Monica’s Omotesando shop for years. There’s a certain pull to the place, something I can’t quite explain, but it kept me finding time to visit whenever I could. I’ve been going for so long now that I’ve lost track of when it all began. But one thing I do remember clearly is the guy with the shaved head. Maybe it’s because our builds are so similar, but I always felt an odd sense of kinship with him. And the clothes he picked out for me? They always fit effortlessly into my style, as though they’d been waiting for me all along.
The shop carries everything from regular secondhand pieces to vintage treasures, each item imbued with its own subtle charm. And the bandanas? Their selection has always been dependable, with prices that feel almost too reasonable for what you’re getting. I recently picked up a few more—each one gave me that small rush, like finding something you didn’t even realize you’d been searching for.
Before I know it, I always end up buying more than I planned. But that’s the beauty of this shop. They’re not pushy, not eager to sell you something. They’re just... there. Quietly existing, waiting for people to find their way in. And somehow, that makes it all the more inviting.
I hope this shop stays just as it is for years to come. Nothing lasts forever, I know. But if there’s a place that feels like it exists outside of that rule, it’s this one.
A long-established second-hand clothing store in Harajuku.
While the prices of second-hand clothing are rising, there are many reasonably priced regular items and a good balance of vintage items as well.
The staff are at a comfortable distance so you can take your time looking around.
The store is not particularly large, but it's easy to browse as there isn't too much stock.
These prices are amazing in this day and age.
It's fun to see so many unique items, even though they're picked out in person.
I bought a Patagonia fleece here and I love it.
I'm not sure if second-hand clothing stores are confident in their selections these days or if they're starting to doubt their own, but with the number of overbearing stores increasing and the number of stores with a gentle atmosphere decreasing, I think this store is very customer-friendly.
I'd like to stop by again next time I'm in the Omotesando area.
Santa Monica Crepes is open from 10:00 AM to 9:30 PM on weekdays (Monday through Friday), and from 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM on weekends and public holidaysThe shop operates daily throughout the week.
Crepes at Santa Monica Crepes start from around ¥430, with most items priced under ¥999. The pricing is considered reasonable compared to other crepe shops in the Harajuku area, making it an affordable option for visitors seeking the quintessential Harajuku crepe experience.
The menu descriptions are indicated in both Japanese and English, and customers can simply order by stating the number of their desired crepe. Vegetarian options are available at the shop, and in addition to sweet crepes, there are savory options including fillings such as tuna and lettuce.
Multiple locations of the same crepe store exist within short distances from each other in Harajuku, with some having long lines while others have no line at all. Visitors are advised not to be swayed solely by the queue length but rather to check the menu and decide on their preferred crepe. Some reviewers note that while the line can be long, the wait is worthwhile.
The ordering process involves looking at photo displays and wax replicas of crepes to see what they look like inside before ordering by number, after which the crepe is made fresh in front of you. The crepes are served wrapped in portable paper cones perfect for eating while walking through the district. There is a small standing area next to the counter where customers can eat, though most visitors take their crepes to go.
