This is one of my favorite local museums. I try to go every time the exhibit changes. Photos are not allowed inside, but postcards are available for purchase. The staff members are always friendly and helpful. The admission fee is very reasonable.
Great collections of Serizawa’s work and you can enjoy them in the amazing architecture. Although Serizawa designed Ohara Museum’s Asia Hall, he asked the other architect for it.
It’s right next to the archaeological sites.
Beautiful museum, top notch art. Awesome small gift shop with high quality gifts. There are many rooms and the building is wonderfully designed. Entry is under 500¥ for adults. Offers student and locals discount.
No photos allowed inside, but really amazing amazing art. Also has a 15 minute video about serizawa.
As Serizawa was always with “art with livings”, the museum is also with living locals. People loves the place. For sure great numbers of collections are so valuable but amazing things that crews have quite known how they should do. Even a lady of museum shop was so educated. She knows a lot more than ordinary curators. She might to see how Serizawa is very important.
I think I should come back there again.
An easy 1-2 combo with the Toro Museum and impressive collection.
