Tennogawa Park, Tsushima

Tennogawa Park is laid out around Maruike, an elliptical pond that is a remnant of the Tenno River, a tributary of the Saya River. This river once flowed through the center of Tsushima City but became a cove during the Edo period as a result of accumulating earth and sand, eventually forming what is now known as Maruike Pond. The park was subsequently designed to surround this historical waterway, creating a unique landscape that connects visitors to the region's past.

The seasonal changes of Tennogawa Park are particularly striking. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom throughout the park, creating a natural spectacle. Around Golden Week (the end of April to early May), the Owari Tsushima Wisteria Festival is held, and numerous wisteria trellises hang over the water, creating a whimsical, dreamlike atmosphere. From the beginning of summer, water lilies bloom in the area around the bridge in Nakanoshima, adorning the park with delicate white petals.
