Yes, there are several hiking trails that lead to and around the falls. The trails vary in difficulty, so make sure to choose one that suits your fitness level.
The falls may be challenging for those with mobility issues due to the uneven terrain and stairs along the trails. There are some viewpoints that are more accessible, but the full experience requires some hiking.
There aren’t designated picnic areas at the falls, but there are some scenic spots along the nearby trails or within a short distance. Be sure to follow Leave No Trace principles and pack out any trash.

This is a rare waterfall where the water flows directly into the sea.
Descending the stairs to the observation deck, the waterfall appears heart-shaped and is very cute.
It's a natural triangle where you can see the blue of the sky, sea, and waterfall, and the green of the mountains in a panoramic view.
There are benches on the way to the observation deck, so you can rest as you descend.
You can cross the road and shop at the nearby Pontan-kan, then park your car in the free parking lot and go straight to the waterfall.
From the red Tai-no-kawa Bridge on the opposite side of Pontan-kan, you can see the sea into which the waterfall flows.
(Toroki Falls is not visible from here)
The sign was small and I almost missed it.
I parked at Pontankan and headed to the observation deck from the entrance on the other side of the road. The road is paved at first, but it disappears halfway through. It's a little steep.
By coincidence, it turned out to be heart-shaped.
It's a beautiful waterfall.

You can easily visit it by taking a short detour off a side road by car.
The walking distance is short, yet you can see such a beautiful waterfall.
I think it's definitely worth including in your Yakushima travel itinerary.
Even among the many waterfalls on Yakushima Island, this is one of the most unique places in all of Japan where a waterfall flows directly into the sea. 🧐
The entrance is across the road from Pon-Tan-Kan.
Many people park their cars at Pon-Tan-Kan, so please be careful when crossing the road. 🖐️
It takes about 2-3 minutes to walk to a spot where you can see the waterfall, but it's narrower than you might expect. lol
When it's crowded, you might want to move quickly or take pictures quickly. lol
I went to see it in the pouring rain. The water level was rising and it was quite impressive!
