What other travelers are saying about Unicorn Gundam Statue
A little bit out of the way but it does have a life size gundam! Nothing of note here with a large shopping complex although externally the area looks a little bit tired but very clean. The monorail servicing the area is very good with excellent views. Only go if you have a few hours to kill.
The Unicorn Gundam Statue is a life-sized replica of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam from the anime series 'Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn'. It is located in Tokyo, Japan, at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza on Odaiba Island.
The Unicorn Gundam Statue stands at approximately 19.7 meters (about 64.6 feet) tall, making it an impressive sight for visitors.
Yes, the statue can transform between its two modes: Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode. This transformation involves changes in its appearance and lighting effects, which occur several times throughout the day.
The Unicorn Gundam Statue was officially unveiled on September 24, 2017, replacing the previous RX-78-2 Gundam statue that stood in its place.
The site often hosts various events and activities related to the Gundam franchise. There are also light shows and performances that take place around the statue, enhancing the experience for fans and tourists alike.
I visited the Unicorn Gundam Statue in Odaiba, and it was truly an impressive experience. The statue is massive and even more striking in real life, giving you a strong sense of Japan’s precision and creativity. The level of detail is incredible, from the armor design to the lighting effects that change during scheduled transformation shows. Evening is the best time to visit, as the light show makes the statue look spectacular and perfect for photos. The area is open and free to visit, located right in front of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, making it easy to combine with shopping or dining. The space is well organized and comfortable for visitors. I highly recommend it to anime fans and anyone looking for an iconic Tokyo experience
Seeing the Unicorn Gundam in Tokyo was a really cool experience, especially if you’re a Gundam or anime fan. The statue is massive and impressive in person, and it’s fun to see all the details up close. We visited during the day, but it’s also known for its light-up transformation in the evening, which makes it even more exciting. The area around it has shops and food options, so it’s easy to spend some time walking around and exploring. It does get crowded, but it’s definitely worth stopping by at least once while in Tokyo.
The life-sized Unicorn Gundam in Odaiba is the main mobile suit from “Mobile Suit Gundam UC” and stands in front of the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza shopping mall, reaching a height of 65 feet (19.7m).
The highlight of the Unicorn Gundam is its transformation performance at scheduled times.
It transforms from its white “Unicorn Mode” to the “Destroy Mode” with its horn unfolding and glowing red. You can see this transformation for about one minute at 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM, and 5 PM, and from 7 PM to 9:30 PM, the body switches to a glowing mode every 30 minutes.
In the evening, the spectacular lighting and video effects create an experience that feels like encountering a scene from the anime in real life.
I visited at 6 AM and only saw the Unicorn Gundam standing still without any lights or movement, but even that was incredibly impressive.
Next time I visit Tokyo, I plan to go at a time when I can see the transformation performance.
It’s awesome! I totally feel like a kid. They have a store full of amazing souvenirs, you can’t miss.
Also you can collect a card to stamp, and if you have time to go around can have all in color. Just brilliant.
The shopping itself also is wonderful, totally worth it.
