I visited the breathtaking Life-Sized Unicorn Gundam Statue at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza with my family and parents in February 2025. It was an unforgettable experience for all generations.
The absolute highlight of our visit was the nice lighting effect show in the evening. Watching the massive figure transform and illuminate against the night sky was incredibly spectacular and captivating. My parents were deeply impressed by the advanced engineering, and the kids were completely thrilled by the dynamic performance.
The viewing area is spacious, comfortable, and very easy to navigate, making it a perfectly accessible spot for elderly family members and children alike. It is a fantastic, budget-friendly attraction that offers great photo opportunities. Do not miss the night transformation schedule if you are visiting !
Unicorn Gundam fans absolutely cannot miss this! The sheer scale of this life-sized statue is incredibly massive, and the area is always buzzing with passionate fanboys gathering to admire it. The real magic happens during the night show, when the entire statue completely transforms with an epic light and sound performance. If you’re lucky, you might even spot fellow fans bringing their own gunpla models to proudly snap side-by-side photos with the colossal giant. It’s an unforgettable experience for any anime lover!
🤖✨ One of Tokyo’s Most Iconic Anime Landmarks ✨🇯🇵
The life-sized Unicorn Gundam statue in Odaiba is honestly one of the most impressive attractions for anime lovers and even for people who are not hardcore Gundam fans. Standing in front of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, the giant statue immediately becomes the center of attention the moment you arrive in the area. The statue itself stands around 19.7 meters tall and transforms between Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode with lighting effects and special performances.
📸 Seeing the Unicorn Gundam in person feels very different compared to photos or videos online. The scale is massive, and the details on the body design look incredible especially when viewed up close.
🌃 The best time to visit is during the evening because the lighting show and transformation effects make the entire experience feel much more dramatic. The glowing psycho-frame lights combined with music and visual effects create a very cinematic atmosphere.
🛍️ Since it is located directly in front of DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, visitors can also enjoy shopping, restaurants, cafés, and the famous Gundam Base Tokyo nearby, making it a perfect destination for both anime fans and casual tourists.
👨👩👧👦 The area itself feels spacious, clean, and family-friendly. Even though it can become crowded especially during weekends and nighttime shows, the atmosphere still feels comfortable for sightseeing and photography.
🚆 Access is also relatively easy from central Tokyo using the Yurikamome Line or Rinkai Line, making it a popular stop for tourists visiting Odaiba.
✨ Overall, the Unicorn Gundam statue is not just an anime attraction, but also one of Tokyo’s modern pop-culture landmarks that combines technology, entertainment, and Japanese fandom culture perfectly.

🤖 The Unicorn Gundam is visited for the experience and excitement.
The statue itself genuinely earns its reputation. Standing in front of a 20-metre Unicorn Gundam in daylight is a proper moment - the scale and detail are impressive, and it holds your attention even if you've never watched a frame of the anime.
As a piece of public art it's a genuine spectacle.
The evening show is a different story. Having caught it a couple of times while staying in Odaiba, the reality is: it lasts but a minute or two, consists mostly of music and coloured lighting effects cycling across the statue, minor movement on a handful of elements, and a short animation projected against the DiverCity mall facade behind it.
The crowd gathers, watches, disperses. It's fine. It's just not worth positioning your evening around or waiting for with any real anticipation.
Come to see the statue — that part delivers. Treat the show as a free bonus if you happen to be passing at the right time, not as a destination in itself.
Place was pretty good! The Unicorn Gundam was really realistic and you can visit the Gundam base nearby to! I visited the Gundam right after the opening of the mall (11:00)AM. I highly recommend visiting before it is taken down in August.
