What other travelers are saying about Yamashita Park
I came to this park because it was represented in the video game "Yakuza: Like A Dragon". It looks quite similar (with a few minor differences). Even in winter when plants aren't really blooming and it's freezing cold, this park still has its beauty and charm.
Yamashita Park is open 24 hours with no admission fee. Boarding the Hikawa Maru ship costs ¥300 for adults and operates during daytime hours.
Take the Minatomirai Line to Motomachi-Chukagai Station, then walk 3 minutes. Alternatively, use Kannai Station on the JR Negishi Line, which requires a 15-minute walk.
The Hikawa Maru is a retired ocean liner that operated from 1930 to 1960 between Yokohama and Seattle. It served as a hospital ship during World War II. Visitors can board and tour the preserved first-class cabins, dining rooms, and other interior spaces for ¥300.
Yokohama Chinatown, the Red Brick Warehouse, and Yokohama Marine Tower are all within walking distance. The waterfront promenade connects to other harbor attractions.
The rose gardens bloom best in spring (May-June) and autumn (October-November). The park is accessible year-round at any hour.
I came here on my last day of my trip to Japan. Glad I did! Wonderful quiet place and with such an amazing weather, it was an enjoyable walk. Not far from central Tokyo if you take the train and it’s so soothing.
Lovely!
It's a beautiful place. Lots of flowers, and it has an incredible view of the sea. The air is fresh, and if you are lucky, you can see so many different birds and insects. Totally worth it.
A Great open space in front of a vast body of water. If you want to have some quiet time out, alone or with company, this could be the place. A little crowded on the weekends but people are generally not boisterous in Japan..
Nice little park! Wish I could be here at night to see how this place lights up! They had a "Moveum" exhibit by Toyota, but I was a little intimidated to go in. Very beautiful park by the ocean!
