Yui Honjin Park

Yui Honjin Park is a historically significant site that once served as an official lodging for feudal lords during the Edo period. The park is situated along the old Tokaido Road, which was a major route connecting Edo (modern-day Tokyo) and Kyoto. Yui was one of the 53 post stations where travelers could rest and resupply. The Honjin at Yui was one of the most important buildings along this route, specifically designated for use by high-ranking officials, including daimyos and their retinues.

The park today features a meticulous reconstruction of the original Honjin, offering a rare opportunity to see how these lords lived and traveled. Inside, visitors can view a collection of artifacts such as period furniture, travel gear, and maps that showcase the lifestyle of the Edo-era elite. 

One notable feature of the park is its strategic location, offering unobstructed views of Mount Fuji, which historically made it a popular resting spot. The garden within the park, though simple, reflects traditional Japanese landscaping with seasonal flowers and carefully arranged trees.
