Cape Manza (Manzamo)

4.2 (22388)Scenic SpotTourist AttractionPoint Of InterestEstablishment

Cape Manza, known locally as Manzamo, is one of Okinawa's most stunning natural landmarks. Located on the west coast of the island, this scenic spot is famous for its dramatic cliffs and breathtaking views of the East China Sea. The name "Manzamo" translates to "a field for 10,000 people" in Okinawan, a testament to the vast, flat-topped cliff that offers ample space for large gatherings, and it is said to have been named by a Ryukyu king during a royal visit.

Visitors to Cape Manza are greeted by the iconic elephant-shaped rock, a natural limestone formation that juts out into the sea, creating a picturesque silhouette against the vast blue horizon. This spot is particularly popular at sunset when the sky and sea are painted in vibrant hues of orange and pink, providing a perfect backdrop for breathtaking photographs.

The area around Cape Manza is not only visually stunning but also rich in marine life, making it a popular spot for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts who explore the coral reefs just offshore. The natural beauty and serene atmosphere make Cape Manza an ideal destination for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in nature.

There’s a 100‑yen entrance fee to visit this place, which is quite reasonable. The walking route is fairly short, though the one‑way layout feels a bit unusual—probably meant to manage crowd flow. Some spots offer great ocean views and make for nice photo opportunities, especially at sunset. If you prefer to skip the entrance fee, there are plenty of viewpoints along the road that offer similar scenery for free

18th February around 12pm Cape manzamo 100yen per adult. Just a short 10 minutes hangout spot then leave the cape because ITS TOO WINDY. Just in time for lunch. Recommend their tummy burger located outdoor. They have few topping like pineapple and etc, I only like pineapple to pair with my burger so I only remember this🤣 But pls be patient as they need time to prepare. You may ask them how long is the waiting time so you can walk around before picking up your burger. They have also fruit sorbet and Japanese warm food. Recommend this crepe. Super good in my opinion. This can be a quick stop from the highway if you want to have nice view to enjoy your meal.

Totally a tourist trap. No mention on Google or any other place to search that you had to go through a facility and pay money to see a cliff. Surprise fees are never fun. Can pay with card. ¥ 100 per person 🙄 There are money exchange machines within the facility and some real nice gift shops with cute souvenirs, teas, and alcohol.
