Cherry blossom season runs from early to mid-April, when the park's 3,000 sakura trees bloom. The Cherry Blossom Festival operates throughout April with food stalls and evening illuminations. Azaleas, peonies, and hydrangeas appear in late spring, while autumn brings foliage displays. The park is open year-round.
Entry to Muramatsu Park is free. However, parking fees apply seasonally. During cherry blossom season in April, parking costs ¥500. Outside of peak sakura viewing periods, parking is free. The park has space for up to 300 vehicles in its on-site parking area. There are no fees for walking the grounds, visiting the shrines, or accessing any of the park's natural features and facilities.
The park offers multiple attractions beyond its famous cherry blossoms. Visitors can explore two shrines on the grounds—Atago Shrine and Okiku-inari Shrine—along with several koi-filled ponds. An observation deck provides panoramic views over Gosen City and, on clear days, extends to Niigata City. The park features traditional Japanese garden elements including stone paths, bamboo groves, and walking trails. Families will find playground equipment for children, and the open spaces are ideal for picnicking, especially during festival periods when food and game stalls add to the atmosphere.
From Niigata Station, take the Joetsu Shinkansen to Gosen Station, then the Gosen City Fureai Bus for 15 minutes to Gakkoucho 2-chome stop. By car, the park is 25 minutes from Yasuda Interchange or 50 minutes from Tsubame-Sanjo Interchange. Taxis from Gosen Station take approximately 10 minutes.
