Nara, formerly known as Heijo-kyo, was Japan's first capital from 710 to 794. It's renowned for its rich history and cultural treasures, including three of Japan's World Heritage Sites. Notably, Nara is famous for its Great Buddha, housed in the Todai-ji Temple, and its friendly deer that wander freely in Nara Park.
