Ohashi Cherry Farm

Ohashi Cherry Farm in Ashibetsu, Hokkaido, stands as one of the region's premier agritourism destinations, having operated for over 50 years. Under the leadership of second-generation owner Masakazu Ohashi, the farm received the prestigious Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award, the highest honor at the National Fruit Contest, marking the first time a Hokkaido farm achieved this distinction.

The farm's significance lies in its exceptional scale and biodiversity. Spanning 1,300 cherry trees across 60 varieties, it represents one of the largest-scale tourist cherry orchards in Hokkaido, covering 4.7 hectares. The farm has maintained over 40 years of organic farming practices, using compost and organic fertilizer instead of chemical alternatives to produce what they call "golden soil." Notable varieties include Sato-nishiki, Nanyo, Gassan-nishiki (with the highest sugar content among cherries), and Summit, Japan's largest cherry.

Visitors experience all-you-can-eat cherry picking during the harvest season from mid-June to late August, with mid-July being optimal. The farm features Japan's largest indoor orchard spanning 11 acres with an all-weather rain dome, ensuring picking continues regardless of weather. As different varieties ripen successively throughout the season, visitors can taste all 60 varieties—an experience unique to Ohashi Cherry Farm.

The farm also offers free parking for up to 500 vehicles, barrier-free restrooms, and rental equipment including mats and chairs. An on-site gift shop sells farm-made cherry products including jams and vinegar. Additional fruit picking for blueberries, prunes, and plums runs from mid-August to mid-October.

The farm is located at 469 Kamiashibetsu-cho, Ashibetsu-shi, approximately 30 minutes from Furano and one hour from Asahiyama Zoo in Asahikawa. Admission for the general fields costs ¥1,800 for adults and ¥1,260 for elementary students, with premium fields priced separately. For groups under 20 people, no reservations are required.
