After a short walk, you will visit a local restaurant or izakaya tucked away in Gion or Pontocho. Here, you will enjoy Kyoto-style dishes served in a calm, traditional setting while learning about local food culture from your guide.

The tour continues to a bar or izakaya in the Pontocho area. This stop offers a lively yet relaxed environment where you can further experience Kyoto’s nightlife and enjoy drinks paired with the surroundings.

Next, you will stop at either a sake bar or a matcha dessert bar in Gion or Pontocho. This part of the tour highlights local flavors, allowing you to enjoy a final taste of Kyoto in a more intimate setting.

There is no specific dress code, but remember that we will be walking around and exploring different restaurants, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
No, transportation to the meeting place is not included. However, Gion Shijo Station is easily accessible by public transport.
Children are welcome on the tour, but participants under 20 cannot consume alcohol.
Unfortunately, we currently do not offer vegan or gluten-free meals.

This was our first ever food tour as we usually think we are capable of finding our way about. But when we had limited time to leave our two little ones with the babysitter we decided to maximise our time with a guide and it was definitely worth it! Wonderful insights, good food, great little nuggets of information that we wouldn't have discovered on our own.
