What is the Hassokumon Gate?

It is the inner gate in front of Izumo Taisha's main hall, normally off-limits to visitors. This tour includes praying inside it, unless a ceremony restricts access that day.

Why is Inasa-no-Hama Beach sacred?

Local tradition holds that gods from all over Japan land here during the divine month, and a ceremony to welcome them is held on the beach each year.

What is Kamimukae-no-Michi?

The Divine Welcome Road links Inasa Beach to Izumo Taisha. When the gods arrive, residents hang shimenawa ropes, turn off their lights, and keep silent as they pass.

Lunch is a traditional local meal at a restaurant near Izumo Taisha, and it is included. Dietary restrictions can be accommodated if you let us know when booking.
