Enjoy a hands-on lacquer painting experience guided by a skilled artisan at a traditional studio. Create your own 15 cm lacquered plate and explore the workshop to learn how lacquerware is made.

Three time slots are available: 11:00 AM–1:00 PM, 1:00 PM–3:00 PM, and 3:00 PM–5:00 PM.
This is a meet-on-site and finish-on-site experience at the studio.
Participants are advised to check local train or bus schedules before booking.
Foreign language instruction booklets are available upon request.
Clothing or hands may become slightly stained due to contact with lacquer or other materials.
Your lacquer plate will be dried at the studio and shipped after the experience, arriving in approximately 1–2 weeks.
Shipping is available within Japan only, and a separate shipping fee will be collected on-site.
Participants who wish to take their item home on the same day should keep it in a humid place for 2 days to allow proper drying.
The experience accommodates 1 to 5 participants.
Please make your reservation by 12:00 PM, 10 days before the participation date.
The voucher is valid only on the selected participation date.

Marusan Shikki is a Hidehira-nuri lacquerware studio in Surisawa, Ichinoseki, about a 10-minute walk from Surisawa Station. It handles every step of its lacquerware, from the wooden base to the decoration, and visitors can tour the workshop after painting.
