Jakko Waterfall is a waterfall in the mountains near Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, within Nikko National Park. Known since ancient times, it is part of the sacred mountain landscape surrounding Toshogu Shrine and other religious sites. The name "Jakko" derives from Jakko-in, a Buddhist temple associated with the area, reflecting integration of natural features into Nikko's religious geography. Jakko Waterfall is accessible from JR Nikko Station or Tobu Nikko Station. From Tokyo, Nikko is reachable via Tobu Railway Limited Express from Asakusa Station (approximately 2 hours) or JR Nikko Line from Ueno Station with transfers. From Nikko stations, reaching the trailhead requires local bus or taxi to mountain access points, then hiking. Specific routes should be verified.
