The museum has Japan's second-largest turntable at 17 meters in diameter and preserves the original fan-shaped engine house from the Tsuyama Engine Depot. The turntable remains operational, and locomotives are positioned in their authentic historic setting rather than in a standard display format.
90 minutes to two hours covers the locomotive collection, train interiors, turntable demonstration, exhibits, and viewing platform.
The museum is 15 minutes on foot from Tsuyama Station. Tsuyama Station is reached via the JR Tsuyama Line from Okayama Station in 70 minutes. Taxis are available at the station.
General admission costs 310 yen for adults and 100 yen for elementary and junior high school students. Children under six years old can enter free of charge. These fees are notably affordable compared to many other museums in Japan, making it an economical addition to any travel itinerary in the Okayama region.
Visitors can enter several preserved trains, watch scheduled turntable demonstrations, use interactive exhibits about railway technology, and access a viewing platform overlooking the facility.
