여행의 마지막 날, 나리타공항으로 가는 스카이라이너를 타기 위해 닛포리역 코인락커에 짐을 보관하고 근처 돌아다닐 곳을 고르다 발견한 천왕사.
천왕사로 가는 길은 제법 고즈넉하고 조용했다. 묘지 옆을 걷기도 했는데 묘지가 주는 으스스한 분위기와는 다르게 공원의 산책로 같은 느낌도 나는 묘한 곳이었다. 일본의 불교는 장례와 관련이 깊다는데 근처에 묘지가 있었던 것도 그런 이유일까 ~ 하는 생각도 했다.
내부로 들어가니 사진으로 보던 큰 불상이 보인다. 절에서 일 하시는 분들이 조금 보였고 깔끔하게 관리가 되고 있었다.
양철이나 플라스틱 물통이 아닌 나무 물통으로 물을 긷는 것은 상당히 일본스럽다.
더위를 식힐 겸, 여행 마지막 날의 아쉬움도 달랠 겸 정원을 바라보며 잠시 앉아있으면 마음이 차분해진다.
