What other travelers are saying about Asahiyama Park
A lovely park with a wonderful view of the city from its topmost point. In winter it’s completely covered in snow, which was quite difficult to walk through, yet fun if you’re up for a challenge (do be careful though).
The park is famous for its cherry blossoms in spring, vibrant foliage in autumn, and snow-covered landscapes in winter. It features walking paths, picnic areas, a pond, and a zoo nearby. The park is also a favored spot for bird-watching and enjoying panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains.
Yes, there are picnic areas within Asahiyama Park where visitors can enjoy meals outdoors. These areas are equipped with benches and tables, making them ideal for family outings or a relaxing meal amidst nature.
Pets are generally allowed in the park but should be kept on a leash and under control at all times. Owners are expected to clean up after their pets and ensure they do not disturb wildlife or other visitors.
The best time to visit depends on your interests. Spring is ideal for cherry blossom viewing, summer offers lush greenery and flower beds, autumn showcases colorful foliage, and winter presents a snowy landscape. Each season offers a unique experience.
While the park itself may not have permanent dining facilities, there are often temporary food stalls during peak seasons or events. Visitors can also bring their own food for picnics, and there are restaurants and cafes nearby in Asahikawa.
Asahiyama Memorial Park offers a stunning panoramic view of Sapporo's nightscape from the observation deck. The free parking and easy access make it perfect for evening visits. I appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and the beautiful city lights against the night sky. The soft serve ice cream at the concession stand was a nice touch after the short hike through the forest. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience Sapporo's scenery.
I went there in the morning. It was not crowded at all. The view from the observation deck over Sapporo is very beautiful. It has a big parking lot. So going here by car is no problem. Would definitely recommend coming here and enjoying the view over Sapporo. When there are no clouds you may also see the mountains in the background.
We went on a monday night in mid November. There is a big parking space. The wind was very strong at the top which made it really cold. You get to see a different side of sapporo from the top. Make sure you have enough layers if you plan to visit during the winter months.
