Fujii Wasabi Garden, located in Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture, stands as one of Japan's largest wasabi farms, covering approximately 15 hectares of pristine mountain valley terrain. Established in 1915 by the Fujii family, the farm has operated continuously for over a century, utilizing the pure spring water flowing from the nearby Japanese Alps to cultivate this notoriously difficult crop. The constant temperature of 13-15 degrees Celsius from the underground springs creates ideal conditions for wasabi cultivation, which requires specific environmental parameters found in few places worldwide.

The cultural significance of Fujii Wasabi Garden extends beyond agriculture, representing traditional Japanese farming methods and the deep connection between food culture and natural environment. Wasabi, known as "Japanese horseradish," has been prized in Japanese cuisine for over 1,000 years, particularly as an accompaniment to sushi and sashimi. The farm is accessible via JR Oito Line to Hotaka Station, followed by a 15-minute bicycle ride or local bus service. Visitors arriving by car can use the Nagano Expressway to Azumino IC, then drive approximately 10 minutes to reach the farm. Admission costs 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children. The farm operates daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM except during the New Year period. Bicycle rentals are available at Hotaka Station for 300 yen per day, providing an scenic route through rural Azumino countryside to reach the wasabi fields.
